SF Ceramics
I am a ceramicist working in Cornwall, primarily on the wheel, under the name SF Ceramics. Since completing a BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in 2011, I have built a ceramics practice that explores the intimacy of our relationships with personal objects. Centring tactility and the relationship between human touch and ritual use, I make work informed by the history of pottery and glass, from ritual vessels found on the shores of the River Thames to elaborate seventeenth century Dutch tulip vases.
Alongside my own practice, I run Clay Trap at CAST with potter Bridie Maddocks: a community ceramics studio based within the wider CAST community in Helston, that promotes skill sharing through teaching and social engagement.
